Disney’s Contemporary Resort is undergoing a big refurbishment as the rooms are given an Incredibles retheme, the lobby is updated, and The Wave is replaced with Steakhouse 71.
Tarps have been on and off the exterior of the building for several months to block different elements of construction from view.
Upon closer inspection, we can see wooden planks tied to many of the balconies.
The planks are tied in pairs along the bottom row of rooms, and in singles on the second row.
It’s unknown exactly what these planks are for.
We can also see the unfinished roof to some of the balconies.
The ground floor is also surrounded with tarps and scaffolding.
This includes scaffolding going over the covered walkway.
The stairs are still accessible, guests just have to walk straight down the center.
The splash zone is currently closed, and surrounded with fencing.
It’s definitely in need of a refurbishment.
Inside, black curtains have become a staple of the refurbishment project.
Plywood is visible behind these curtains.
Upstairs, crew members were working on fixing a bad leak in the ceiling next to the escalators.
In the picture above and video below, you can see just how much water was coming down.
As a result of the leak, this area was blocked off.
Curtains have been removed from the rest of the second floor, leaving the space open and with scattered seating.
