"This is an exciting time for the club, and I'm delighted we could secure Tobin's signing as we prepare to kick off the new season at Emirates Stadium on Sunday."

Heath, 33, is a two-time World Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medalist. She has scored 35 goals in 177 appearances for the U.S. women's team.

Her trophy case also features two National Women's Soccer League titles, two CONCACAF women's titles and an Olympic bronze medal.

She was U.S. Soccer's 2016 Female Athlete of the Year.

Heath played at North Carolina from 2006 to 2009. She also suited up for Paris Saint-Germain, Sky Blue FC and the Portland Thorns. She joined Manchester United in 2020, but sustained a knee injury in April and was limited to eight appearances.

Arsenal starts its 2021 campaign against rival Chelsea at 7:30 a.m. EDT Sunday in London. Heath will wear No. 77 for the Gunners.
