Minor league update for 9/2/21

A busy day on the farm, including a pair of doubleheaders

Down East played a pair on Thursday, with Josh Stephan making his full season debut in game one. Stephan impressed, throwing five shutout innings, allowing three hits while striking out seven and not walking anyone. Conner Sechler allowed a run in two innings, allowing three hits and two walks, striking out three.

Keyber Rodriguez and Jose Acosta each had a hit.

In game two, Angel Aponte had a pair of hits and a walk. Thomas Saggese tripled. Yenci Pena had a single and a double. Cody Freeman and Daniel Mateo each had hits. Jayce Easley had a hit and two walks.

Hickory also had a doubleheader on Thursday. Seth Nordlin went five innings in game one, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks, striking out two. David Garcia, Frainyer Chavez and Jake Guenther all had doubles. Jonathan Ornelas had a pair of hits.

In game two, Dustin Harris had a single and a double. Jonathan Ornelas had a pair of hits. Jake Guenther had a hit.

Daniel Robert continued his strong run for the Roughriders, striking out two in a scoreless inning of work. Blaine Crim was 2 for 5 with a homer. Davis Wendzel and Sam Huff were each 2 for 4 with a walk and a double. Josh Stowers had a hit and a walk. Josh Smith had a hit. J.P. Martinez had a double.

Spencer Howard made a rehab start for Round Rock, allowing a run on three hits in two innings of work, striking out three. Jake Latz allowed a run in five innings, giving up one hit, walking three and striking out four. Ryan Dorow had a triple and a homer. Josh Jung had a hit and a walk. Steele Walker had a hit. Curtis Terry had a pair of walks.
