Ansu Fati's Dad Went To The Barcelona Club Store To Buy Several Number 10 Shirts

After Lionel Messi's move to PSG, Barcelona were left with a vacant number 10 shirt which has now been filled by young forward Ansu Fati.

Ansu Fati's father Bori was so excited about his son's new number at Barcelona that he went to the club shop to buy a number of shirts for the family.

Lionel Messi's departure from Barcelona left a huge hole to fill at the Nou Camp, in a number of ways, with the club ill prepared to deal with their all time top goalscorer moving to PSG.

Some felt that the club should have retired the number 10 shirt after all that Messi had given the team, never mind the fact it would be nigh on impossible to replace him.

On Wednesday however, it was announced that young forward Fati, who only made his debut for the club two years ago, will now wear the iconic number.

The 18-year-old's dad, Bori, headed straight down to the club's shop at the stadium to buy eight shirts for himself and the rest of the family.

"I couldn't sleep," Fati senior told Deportes Cuatro of his excitement, "I said to myself, as soon as the shop opens I've got to be there.

"I have no words to describe what it means that Ansu inherits the 10 from Leo Messi . I have no words. It is a moment of emotion that must be kept forever."

Last November, Fati picked up a serious injury in a game against Real Betis, and it was discovered that he'd torn his meniscus on his left knee and had to have surgery.

It was initially expected that it would take around four months for him to return to the team but instead he had to undergo two more surgeries.

The forward finally returned to training at the beginning of last month and could finally make his return to the team when Barca restart their season following the international break on September 14th, their Champions League game vs Bayern Munich.

Speaking about the injury, Bori said, "We have had a very bad time. I have cried a lot, many times, Ansu too . He is very strong, they have been nine very hard months.

"I do not wish anyone what we have experienced. Not my worst enemy. But life goes on. I have spent many nights without sleep . Many. We have felt the love of Barcelona. We have checked every day when we arrive at the sports city. The cules never fail. We are with them all the family.

"Ansu has a winning mentality. Hopefully so, that the best Ansu returns. He is only 18 years old . We are very happy."
