Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has come under intense scrutiny lately for refusing to be vaccinated against COVID-19 . Now, in a press conference, Wentz doubled down and asked people to respect his decision, since he respects the decision of others. This comes just a few hours after Wentz returned from the COVID protocol list.

Via the National Football Post:

“It's a personal decision for me and my family… With all the protocols going around, it's all about understanding them clearly.”

Wentz is obviously not the first NFL to refuse the vaccine. Just recently, his teammate, Colts linebacker Darius Leonard has confirmed he hasn't been vaccinated yet, saying he needs to learn more about it. This is a recurring narrative among many of the people who refuse to be vaccinated: they claim to not know a lot more and want to be “sure” about the bad effects of the vaccine.

This recent take of his will surely not sit well with Colts general manager Chris Ballard and coach Frank Reich, who have repeatedly urged their players to get vaccinated.

The Colts are part of a shortlist of teams who have the least amount of vaccinated players, and considering the new stingy rules regarding unvaccinated players, it's surely a problem for the front office. Disregarding the health and safety issues, less vaccinated players means that a lot of times, the Colts' roster will be depleted. That alone is a problem for the management.

Carson Wentz arrived only this year in Indianapolis after a messy exit from the Eagles. Now, he's caused a new ruckus with his team, potentially endangering their winning chances over a “personal decision.”
