Patriots reach injury settlement with veteran offensive lineman Marcus Martin

The New England Patriots released veteran interior lineman Marcus Martin with an injury settlement on Thursday, according to the NFL transaction wire.

Martin, 27, had been placed on injured reserve amid a series of Patriots moves as active rosters around the league reduced to 80 players on Aug. 24. He saw 90 offensive snaps during the preseason prior to then between left guard, center and right guard.

Entering the NFL in the second round of the 2014 draft out of USC, Martin spent his initial three regular seasons with the San Francisco 49ers on the way to starting 24 of his 26 games. The former All-Pac-12 selection was claimed by the Cleveland Browns in the spring of 2017, and has since also been a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions.

The Patriots signed the 6-foot-3, 330-pound Martin to the active roster last December. He appeared in the January finale.

Nine offensive linemen reside on the initial 53 in Foxborough.
