‘Big Brother 23’ episode 25 recap: Was Kyland or Sarah Beth evicted on September 2? [UPDATING LIVE BLOG]

The dynamic duo of Kyland Young and Sarah Beth Steagall was split up during Thursday’s episode of “Big Brother,” but it took two Heads of Household to accomplish the feat. Both ladies nominated SB and Kyland for eviction, with the house voting live on September 2 to send one of them to the jury house. So who ended up having a one-on-one meeting with Julie Chen Moonves at the end of the night?

8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Big Brother’!” In the 24th episode, the house reacted to Tiffany being dethroned by a secret Head of Household (hi, Claire). The girls decided to keep the new HOH’s identity a secret, as if it really mattered at this point. In the Power of Veto competition, the houseguests raced to put random photographs of their former friends in chronological order. Sarah Beth came thisclose to winning, but Hannah prevailed instead. Kyland tried to convince Hannah to go against the Cookout’s plan and remove him from the block, but she stuck to her word and removed Xavier instead, who was up as a third nominee because of an earlier punishment. Who will be going home tonight?

8:10 p.m. – It’s Day 58 in the “Big Brother” house and the Cookout is closer than ever to making it to the final six, but Kyland seems to be on shaky ground with Tiffany and Hannah. Will the Cookout stay together to the end? Tiffany is not distracted by Kyland’s shifty ways and can’t wait to send Sarah Beth packing so she can tell Derek X. she was responsible for SB’s eviction. Out in the backyard, Alyssa jokes with Claire by telling her that if Sarah Beth leaves she will be the last white person in the house. Claire laughs and says, “Is there an alliance I don’t know about?” Xavier lies, stating, “I didn’t even think about that.” Xavier then runs to the bathroom and cam-talks to himself, saying that Alyssa will now have to go home before Claire.

8:15 p.m. – A bug lands on Big D while him and Hannah are lying in the hammock outside. Big D catapults from it, sending Hannah flying to the ground where she hits her head on a wooden pole. Meanwhile, Azah and Claire set a fire in the kitchen while everyone else is outside checking on Hannah. There is some serious non-game drama happening this week! Claire refuses to take responsibility for the fire because it was a steak and she’s a vegan. Later, Big D apologizes profusely to Hannah, asking what he can do for her while he sits in his chair.

8:25 p.m. – With less than a month to go this season, the Cookout is alone in one room for the first time. This is the main reason the other houseguests never figured this alliance out. But if and when they become the final six, who will go home first? In the Diary Room, Xavier says he there are pros and cons going to the final three with either Kyland and Big D or Tiffany and Hannah. Kyland says he doesn’t quite trust Big D. Meanwhile, Big D plans on either Xavier or Kyland dragging him into the final two where he can talk his way to $750,000. Later, Tiffany tells Kyland that they have to get rid of Big D, followed by Xavier. She sees them as their biggest threats. Kyland then reveals his true final two deal is with Tiffany, but he’s torn between her and Xavier. Both of them would be incredibly difficult for Kyland to beat so I’m not sure what he’s thinking. He would be better off sitting by Azah or Big D. Meanwhile, Tiffany says if she has it her way, she will be sitting in the last two seats with Hannah. It’s about to get interesting when the Cookout starts turning on each other!

8:30 p.m. – It’s time to check in on Britini D’Angelo and Derek Xiao in the jury house! Britini is shocked to see Derek walk in the door. She expected to see Alyssa, Sarah Beth or Kyland. Now she needs all the details! Derek confesses he wasn’t expecting Sarah Beth to target him. They watch everything back and seeing Britini’s reaction to all the drama is the most entertaining thing so far tonight. Later on, Derek says Kyland revealed he was working with a group of people since week one in his goodbye message. Derek and Britini start to piece together the Cookout, but don’t realize Big D and Hannah are included. Derek thinks it’s genius and has no hard feelings.

8:40 p.m. – It’s now time for the live vote and eviction. Prior to the vote Sarah Beth and Kyland each give brief, boring statements. Next each houseguest enters the Diary Room and votes to evict Sarah Beth by a tally of 5-1. Tiffany was the lone sympathy vote for Sarah Beth.

8:59 p.m. – The next HOH will be determined by a classic game of endurance. The players will be hanging onto ropes and balancing on discs as they swing around. The last person holding on will become the new HOH. Claire will have to throw the competition at some point since she is the anonymous HOH and can’t be HOH twice in a row. Big D already fell off. Perhaps the more shocking fall was Alyssa. She needed this more than anyone and surely expected to do better. We will find out the winner on Sunday night.
