With Hakan Calhanoglu’s exit on a free transfer confirmed at the end of June, the passing of the baton went to the returning Brahim Diaz.

MilanNews are full of praise for the Spaniard, remarking how Diaz has already scored personally and has already provided decisive assists to his team-mates, becoming a big part of why the team currently sit on six points after two league game played.

Taking the number 10 shirt vacated by Calhanoglu was not necessarily an easy task and could have been a burden for the 22-year-old, but he already made important contribution to the second-placed finish last year and looks to have continued that dangerous streak.

He is a player who plays between the lines and is capable of being very dangerous in the attacking zone. He must find the consistency that was lacking last season and continue to be decisive, but given that the mercato did not see the arrival of a big name attacking midfielder who can alternate with Brahim Diaz, he will be the undisputed starter in this 2021-22 season.

His current tally ready 8 goals and 5 assists in 41 games played since he arrived just over a year ago, and that is only destined to rise.
