Larry G. Jennings , 86, Corydon, IA, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at a Des Moines, Iowa hospital.

     He was born August 21, 1935 in Ridgeway, MO the son of Frank Orville and Belva Berniece (Williams) Jennings.  He grew up in Bethany, Missouri with his sister, Darlene and brother, Frank Jr.  Larry graduated from Bethany High School in 1954.  He started working at the Supply Store (now Hy-Vee) in 1949 while in high school and became a full time employee after graduation.  He enlisted in the Army Reserve Unit in Bethany in March 1954 and was honorably discharged in February 1962.

     On May 22, 1955, he was united in marriage to Joyce Plymell at the home of Rev. O. D. Hedges, Martinsville, MO.  They were blessed with two children, Debbie and Mike.  On January 1, 1961, they moved to Corydon, Iowa and Larry continued with Hy-Vee.  He trained many young men how to be good employees and several became store managers for Hy-Vee.  He enjoyed visiting with many former employees when they returned to Corydon and stopped in to see him.  He retired from Hy-Vee in November 1999.  After retiring, he enjoyed wood working, bus trips, taking cruises, talking with former Hy-Vee customers and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

     He was a member of the Corydon United Methodist Church, Wayne County Prairie Trails Museum and a retired member of the IOOF Lodge.

     Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, on November 19, 2020; his parents; sister, Darlene Elder; father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Alberta Plymell; brothers-in-law, Chuck Blake, Mark Adams, Tobe Elder, and Bill Plymell and sister-in-law, Hazel Plymell.

     Survivors include his children, Debbie (Lee) Horton, Corydon, IA and Mike (Stephany) Jennings, Pleasant Hill, IA; 3 granddaughters, Leanne (Michael) Dixson, Indianola, IA, Shanna (Robbie) Clowser, Millerton, IA and Rachelle (Josh) Cristenson, Chariton, IA; step-granddaughter, Chelsy (Jason) Horton; great-grandchildren, Chase, Shailey and Bella Dixson and Jaxson, Maverick and Aryia Clowser; step-great-granddaughter, Destiny Gilson; step great grandson, Lee Davis; brother, Frank (Connie) Jennings, Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law, Dick (Sue) Plymell, Lee’s Summit, MO and Mark (Pam) Plymell, New Hampton, MO; sister-in-law, Sharon Adams, Independence, MO and several nieces and nephews and many friends.      Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO.  Burial will follow in the White Oak Cemetery, Bethany, MO.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Wayne County Museum and/or White Oak Cemetery in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
