Carson Wentz returned to the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday after a stay on the reserve/Covid-19 list.

While Wentz being activated from the list is a good sign for the Colts, it's still yet to be determined whether or not he will be good to go for Week 1.

Wentz underwent foot surgery at the outset of training camp and the timeline then was as foggy as it is now when it pertains to a return under center for the Colts' signal caller.

Adam Schefter of ESPN also noted Sam Ehlinger was put on injured reserve meaning, if Wentz misses Week 1, all signs would point towards Jacob Eason getting the start for the Colts.

Indianapolis is trying to stack up another playoff appearance this year but then take it a step further. With Philip Rivers at quarterback a year ago for the Colts, they were able to punch a ticket to the postseason but fell short once arriving.

The trade in the offseason for Wentz had the goal in mind of setting Indianapolis up at the quarterback position for the long run now that he's reunited with Frank Reich.

It didn't work out in the end with the Philadelphia Eagles for Wentz and that divorce ended up being messy. But it's entirely possible a new start with a head coach that he's had success with before in Reich will help Wentz gain back some of that confidence that he had just a couple of seasons ago.
