Santander Bank NA announced that it will close 20 branches in southeastern and central Pennsylvania over the next three months.
Included on the list was one Berks County location at 15 Maplewood Drive, Douglassville. The bank said in a statement that the location at Maplewood and Route 422 westbound, will close on Nov. 19.
“Like many industries, our customers’ preferences and behaviors around banking are shifting,” the bank said in a statement. “We are listening and responding by adjusting our business model and delivery to better serve our customers, which includes consolidating branches while also opening new ones, increasing our investment in digital, service center and ATM capabilities, and testing new products and services. We remain committed to Pennsylvania, and will continue proudly working with our clients in branches across the area, and through our 24/7 digital banking channels and ATMs.”
Customers who use that location for banking will have to travel to Pottstown, Boyertown or Exeter Township. The CVS Pharmacy along Route 422 in Douglassville has a Santander ATM inside the store.
Other locations scheduled to close include:
- Yardley, Bucks County, on Oct. 8.
- Wyndmoor, Montgomery County, Oct. 22.
- Lafayette Hill, Montgomery County, Oct. 22
- Media, Delaware County, Nov. 5.
- Springfield, Delaware County, Nov. 5
- West Chester, Nov. 5.
- Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, Nov. 12.
- Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, Nov. 12.
- Bethlehem, Nov. 12.
- Allentown, Nov. 12.
- Northampton, Northampton County, Nov. 12.
- Lancaster, Nov. 19.
- Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, Nov. 19.
Also included are three branches in Philadelphia that will be shuttered on Oct. 22, along with two more in the York area and another in Harrisburg that will all be closed on Nov. 19.
