Teen chokes to death on own vomit on ‘Kamikaze’ amusement park ride

A Turkish teen tragically died after choking on her own vomit on an amusement park attraction called the “Kamikaze” after operators reportedly refused to stop it.

The freak incident occurred Monday afternoon after psychology student Zeynep Gunay had gone to Istanbul’s Hayrola Luna Park to unwind while she awaited exam results, the Daily Mail reported.

A CCTV photo shows the 19-year-old in a gray hijab and mask as she waits for the “Kamikaze” ride to start.

Gunay’s experience turned catastrophic when she reportedly vomited and fell unconscious after the pendulum-style attraction lifted off the ground.

Upon noticing their daughter’s predicament, her frantic parents pleaded with the fairgrounds employees to stop the ride but allegedly were ignored.

When the attraction eventually came to a halt, she was taken off unconscious, whereupon operators reportedly said the teen should be “slapped two or three times” to revive her, according to the Daily Mail. Gunay’s uncle, Fatih Gunay, claimed that her family was forced to call the ambulance themselves, saying the park employees neglected to do so.

The young woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. To add insult to tragedy, it later came out that Gunay had achieved the exam scores she needed to get accepted into her desired university course.

Fatih has chalked up her untimely death to negligence and promised that her family will do “whatever it takes” to get justice. However, it’s unclear whether they’ve filed a formal complaint with authorities or if an investigation has been launched.

This isn’t the first time someone has died on an amusement park ride recently. Last month, a 32-year-old man plunged nearly 50 feet to his death from a chair lift at Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah.

Operators reportedly ignored Gunay's parents pleas to stop the ride.
