Jan Johnson, a Gov. Mifflin grad and former Penn State linebacker, was signed Wednesday by the Tennessee Titans to their practice squad, one day after they released him from their 53-man active roster.

The 6-2, 236-pound Johnson was one of 12 players who the Titans signed to their practice squad after they were waived.

The others were wide receivers Mason Kinsey and Dez Fitzpatrick, tight end Miller Forristall, fullback Tony Carter, offensive linemen Jordan Roos, Christian DiLauro and Derwin Gray, defensive linemen Naquan Jones and Woodrow Hamilton and defensive backs Jamal Carter and Briean Borders-Calhoun.

Johnson signed a futures contract with the Titans in January. He played in all three preseason games, making two solo tackles against Chicago, one solo stop against Tampa Bay and two assisted tackles and a half sack against Atlanta.

Coming out of Penn State, he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in April 2020 before they released him during training camp last year. He later had tryouts with New Orleans and Tampa Bay that didn’t produce a contract.

Johnson went to Penn State as a preferred walk-on and eventually became a two-year starter and team captain. He made 64 tackles as a senior in 2019, including 4.5 for losses, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one interception, one sack and two pass break-ups.

Also, the Detroit Lions signed former Kutztown University running back to their practice squad.

Reynolds played in all three preseason games for the Lions and rushed for 87 and two touchdowns in the first two games against Buffalo and Pittsburgh. He carried four times for 9 yards against Indianapolis last Friday, caught one pass for 10 yards and returned a kickoff 24 yards.
