NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Monroe scored three goals in the first 15 minutes Tuesday, rolling to a 5-1 victory over SUNY Ulster in men’s soccer, spoiling the Senators’ season opener.
Ulster regrouped in the second half. Modou Badjie, who keyed the Senators’ midfield play, scored on a long shot, but Ulster couldn’t mount a comeback.
Monroe, of the Bronx, outshot the Senators 10-2. Ulster goalkeeper Justin Dunikowski, from Wallkill High School, made five saves.
Ulster has another nonconference match at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Middlesex Community College.
