It’s hard to beat an all-American burger-and-fries combo, and some of them hit the spot more than others.

Chicago is no stranger to good food. The Windy City has something for everyone, whether diners are looking to catch a great seafood dish, go out to brunch, grab a bite of dessert or anything in between. So it’s no surprise that it’s also home to the best burger joint in Illinois.

That’s why Love Food, the publisher that dubs itself “the tastiest guide on the web,” mapped out the best burger-and-fry combos in every state. Love Food advises people “to check each restaurant's website for changes due to COVID-19 before you head there.”

So, where should people head for the best burger in Illinois?

Kuma’s Corner.

The restaurant opened its original location on West Belmont Avenue, and opened five others, including three more in Illinois: the West Loop location on West Fulton Market, the Vernon Hills location and the Schaumburg location.

Here’s what Love Food says about it:

Kuma’s Corner is a gourmet burger bar with six locations that has named all its menu items after heavy metal bands. Opt for Slayer – a 10oz (0.6lb) burger on a bed of fries, chili, caramelised onions, andouille, cherry peppers, Monterey Jack and scallions. Customers say that even burgers cooked well done are still juicy and tender.”
