Dodgers recall Zach McKinstry and Ryan Meisinger as roster expands

Rosters expanded to 28 players on Wednesday, with the Dodgers calling up two players. They called up right-handed pitcher Ryan Meisinger and utility man Zach McKinstry.

If you’re thinking to yourself, “Who in the world is Ryan Meisinger?” don’t worry, it’s all good. He was claimed off waivers by the Cubs yesterday, along with pitcher Jake Jewell. With a 40-man roster already full, both pitchers are filling in spots opened by two unidentified players placed on triple-A Oklahoma City’s inactive list for COVID-19-related reasons.

The 27-year-old Meisinger allowed 10 runs in 7 ¹⁄₃ innings with the Cubs this season. During his career, he’s spent time in Baltimore and St. Louis in addition to Chicago. He owns a 7.26 ERA in 31 career innings.

Meanwhile, McKinstry is back up with the club for his third stint. He started off the season hot with the Dodgers, but just wasn’t the same after missing a month with an oblique injury. On the season, he’s hitting .217 with seven home runs and 29 RBI. In 20 games at the AAA level, he hit .257 with three home runs and eight runs driven in.

In addition, Luke Raley and Sheldon Neuse were both placed on the 60-day IL. Their injuries weren’t disclosed.
