Dry & Sunny Thursday

2024-01-02

First Alert: Any fog will mix out by midmorning. Today will be sunny with highs in the low to mid 70s. We're in for an extended dry stretch and a weekend warm up. Highs will climb closer to 90 early next week.

Good morning! Showers moved through the area yesterday afternoon, with overall rainfall totals less than 0.10 of an inch. Skies have cleared, but some areas of fog have developed. Any fog around should dissipate by the mid to late morning. Otherwise, today and tomorrow will be pleasant as high pressure builds southward into the region.

Temps will top out in the upper 60s to low 70s from the Triangle and north and mid to upper 70s in the Sandhills. Tonight will be cooler, with lows in the mid 40s.

The nice weather continues into Friday, with temperatures hovering around the low to middle 70s.

A warming trend will get under way this weekend as a potent storm system develops across the center of the country, allowing for more south-southeasterly flow locally. High pressure will settle off the east coast. The chance for a shower on Saturday is looking less impressive this morning, but clouds will increase with a very weak front passes through the region. Highs Saturday will be in the mid and upper 70s.

Starting Sunday, highs will be in the 80s. But Tuesday, afternoon highs will approach 90 degrees as high pressure drops farther off the Southeast coast. The next cold front still looks to pass through late Tuesday/early Wednesday. This'll bump up the chance for a few showers and isolated storms. Highs will be in the 80s through the middle of next week.

Have a good day!
