A Great Weekend

2024-01-02

Pleasant weather will be the rule here into early Saturday, but there are a few minor details to point out. Models show a patch of midlevel moisture rolling through tonight. As as result I have added some cloud cover and raised the overnight low by 2 degrees.

Tomorrow will be an awesome day with with sun and just a few clouds. An easterly surface gradient will make it a few degrees cooler than today. In fact, temps may struggle to reach 70. None-the-less, it will be a great day to be outdoors.

Saturday will not be all that bad, but a warm front approaching from the southwest is likely to bring more clouds our way and a light shower or two may dampen a few spots. There is not enough moisture or energy with this warm frontal passage to expect any greater rain amounts and it will certainly not be enough to relieve the dry spell we are currently in.

Temps should reach the mid 70s Saturday and if the clouds thin out more than expected, add on a few degrees.

A prolonged spell of warm weather will set in Sunday and last much of next week. Daily highs Monday through Thursday will be well up in the 80s and with the ground being as dry as it is we might squeeze a 90 degree day out of this warm spell. A weak cold front passing by to north could trigger a late day thunderstorm Tuesday. It seems there is a better chance for a thunderstorm Thursday as a storm and its attendant cold front make a run at the Carolinas. I hope thats right as we sure need the rain.

Have a great evening!
