Michael Nesmith of The Monkees performs during the 2013 Mid Summers Night Tour in Boca Raton, Florida.

Fans of The Monkees will have to show proof of vaccination or a negative covid test to attend the 1960s pop group’s upcoming show at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.

Featuring the group’s two surviving members, Michael Nesmith and Mickey Dolenz, the sold-out show is set for 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 and is part of The Monkees’ farewell tour.

A message from the artists posted on the theater website reads:

“Safety is always our number one priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we will require proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 48 hours prior to the event. An original vaccination card, a printed copy of a valid vaccination card or negative test will be accepted. Documentation may also be presented in digital form, such as a screenshot or photo, on a phone. For any vaccine documentation in reprinted form (printed copy, phone screenshot, etc.), the entire vaccination card must be visible, or it will not be accepted. This applies to all attendees, employees, and local crew.”

Ticket-holders unable or unwilling to provide the requested documentation can request a refund by emailing boxoffice@wctrust.net or calling the theater box office at 724-836-8000 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. The refund request window will close Sept. 15.

The made-for-television pop group had a string of hits from the late 1960s to the early ’70s, including “Daydream Believer,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “I’m a Believer” and “Last Train to Clarksville.”

Band members were chosen by producers of the eponymous NBC sitcom that ran from 1966 to 1968, following the antics of the rock band. From its manufactured roots, The Monkees went on to be a legitimate band and a top-selling act of the era.

In addition to Nesmith and Dolenz, the original group included Davy Jones, who died in 2012, and Peter Tork, who died in 2019.
