Colts claim two cornerbacks, Thakarius Keyes and Chris Wilcox, off waivers

Two cornerbacks were added to Indy’s 53-man roster on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Colts added two more cornerbacks to their 53-man roster after claiming Thakarius Keyes (2020 7th-round pick from Tulane via Kansas City Chiefs) and Chris Wilcox (2021 7th-round pick from BYU via Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

This is an interesting move for the Colts, especially when you consider six cornerbacks already made their roster. Adding Keyes and Wilcox to the mix is not a good sign for 2019 5th-round pick Marvell Tell III, who remained on the roster bubble throughout training camp and preseason.

Keyes and Wilcox both check the boxes Indianapolis looks for in defensive backs — tall (both 6’1”) and lanky. We’ll see if both end up making the Week 1 roster when the Colts face the Seattle Seahawks on Sep. 12 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis isn’t done tweaking their final roster. Stay tuned to Stampede Blue and we’ll keep you updated on all the latest news.
