This last season has already been met with rave reviews, debuting on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive score of 100%.

It has been praised for tackling several current issues, including the Black Lives Matter movement and the global pandemic and the first responders in New York.

Andy Samberg, who plays detective Jake Peralta, discussed how the comedy series tackled these serious topics, saying: "The challenge is going to be being honest about what is going on in the world and not shying away from the fact that there are serious problems, and also not punishing viewers who like our show and care about our characters."

He added: "Our characters need to examine their roles in the world. They're going to be forced to look in the mirror and see who they're complicit with."

The final season has also continued the storyline of Jake and Amy's baby Mac, who was born in the season seven finale, and brought back the Pontiac Bandit, otherwise known as Doug Judy (Craig Robinson), with returns for Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) and Adrian Pimento (Jason Mantzoukas) coming up.
