Packers Release Another One Of Aaron Rodgers’ Favorites

The Green Bay Packers released tight end Bronson Kaufusi this afternoon, despite the fact Aaron Rodgers praised the BYU product recently.

We’ve seen the Packers get rid of guys Rodgers likes before, and their release of wide receiver Jake Kumerow in 2020 is the biggest example. Rodgers told people he thought Kumerow was Green Bay’s second-best wideout in camp, and his disapproval of the move contributed to the star quarterback’s discontent with the organization this offseason.

It even led to Rodgers getting trolled this summer by Packers reporter Rob Demovsky, who joked that he can’t wait to see Bronson Kaufusi play in Buffalo this year. After Kumerow was cut by Green Bay, the Buffalo Bills picked him up.

We’ll see where Kaufusi lands in the coming days. Maybe Green Bay can sign him to the practice squad tomorrow.

Kaufusi was a third-round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens as a defensive end in 2016. He played in nine games with the Ravens and Jets from 2017-19, making two starts and recording eight total tackles.

Kaufusi then made the switch to tight end, which is where he was playing this summer when he left a favorable impression on Rodgers.

“Part of what I love is getting to know these other guys—our tight end, Bronson Kaufusi, I love him. One of the happiest guys ever,” Rodgers told NBCSports’ Peter King.
