ANAHEIM, Calif. — Remember when the Yankees traded relievers Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson to the Reds?
Well, they completed that trade Monday.
The Yankees said they acquired righty pitcher Jason Parker as the player to be named later in the transaction, which saw Cincinnati also absorb the salaries of Wilson and Cessa.

Cessa was set to make $1.05 million in 2021. Wilson’s salary for the season was $2.85 million. Wilson also had a $1.15-million buyout for 2022.
The 23-year-old Parker was 4-3 with a 4.05 ERA in 19 games (18 starts) this season for the Reds at Low-A. He had strong strikeout numbers, fanning 91 batters in 80 innings. But he also walked 33 hitters.
Cincinnati drafted Parker the 16th round in 2019 out of North Carolina State, but he didn’t pitch in 2020 due to the minor-league shutdown amid the coronavirus pandemic. Parker, who stands 5-foot-11 and 197 pounds, is a North Carolina native.
Cessa was set to make $1.05 million in 2021. Wilson’s salary for the season was $2.85 million. Wilson also had a $1.15-million buyout for 2022. Wilson has a 1.86 ERA in 11 appearances.

The Yankees have acquired RHP Jason Parker from the Cincinnati Reds as the player to be named later in the 7/27/21 trade in which the Yankees traded RHP Luis Cessa and LHP Justin Wilson to the Reds.
Parker, 23, went 4-3 with a 4.05 ERA (80.0IP, 63H, 41R/36ER, 33BB, 91K, 7HR) in 19 games (18 starts) in his professional debut with Low-A Daytona this season. The New Bern, N.C., native was selected by the Reds in the 16th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft out of North Carolina State.
