Funeral arrangements announced for USMC retired Col. Carl Cooper
Sad news came through the city of Vestavia Hills Sunday as retired Marine Col. Carl Cooper died at the age of 101.A true American hero, Col. Cooper served on the front lines of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.WVTM 13's Rick Karle said Cooper loved raising the American flag in his front lawn each morning and lowering it each evening. He also loved mowing his yard.The visitation will be held at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills on from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 3. His funeral service will begin immediately after at 11 a.m. Cooper will also receive full military honors following the funeral service at Elmwood Cemetery. The address is as follows: 600 Martin Luther King DriveBirmingham, AL 35211In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shades Mountain Baptist Church or to the American Village located at P.O. Box 6, Montevallo, AL 35115.

The visitation will be held at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Vestavia Hills on from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 3. His funeral service will begin immediately after at 11 a.m.
