Health departments in southern Ill. report more COVID-19 cases

The positive COVID-19 cases are rising in Perry, Franklin, Williamson counties in Illinois.

PERRY COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – More positive COVID-19 cases have been reported from a few southern Illinois counties.

The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department has been notified of 89 new cases of COVID-19. The Perry County Health Department announced Monday, Aug. 30 that the county has 79 additional positive cases of COVID-19 since Thursday morning, Aug. 26.

These positive cases are believed to have acquired the disease through either local contact with known cases, social gatherings, church settings, community events or through transmission in the community (unable to trace back to a known source).

The Perry County Health Department in Illinois released new numbers of positive cases of COVID-19 on Sept. 2. Since Wednesday, Sept. 1, the Perry County Health Department has been notified of 10 additional positive cases. On Sept. 1, the health department reported 30 additional positive cases of COVID-19 since Aug. 31.
