Howie Rose to miss rest of Mets season with medical issue

Howie Rose will miss the remainder of the Mets broadcasts this season due a surgery for an undisclosed illness.

“The prognosis is good,” Rose told The Post over the phone Monday morning.

Rose, 67, has been in and out of the broadcast booth all year dealing with the medical issue.

He hopes to be back in the booth for spring training next year.

“That is certainly my expectation,” Rose said.

Rose put off the procedure as long as he could, but he said he and his doctors decided it was best to do it now.

“Some of you may know that I’ve been dealing with a personal medical issue this season,” Rose tweeted on Monday morning along with a heart emoji.

“In light of this I will require surgery later this week, so following Wednesday’s game I will have to put this season in the books. Looking forward to starting a new chapter next spring.”

WCBS will have Wayne Randazzo move into Rose’s lead spot, teaming with Eddie Coleman for the bulk of the rest of the season. WCBS will also have some special guest analysts, including Terry Collins, Jerry Blevins and Lee Mazzilli.
