Chicago P.D. Season 9: Voight and Upton Team Up in Premiere — Check Out Exclusive Photo and Synopsis
We’re less than a month away from having new episodes of NBC‘s Chicago P.D., and TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek at the Season 9 premiere (airing Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 10/9c).
In the photo above, Voight (played by Jason Beghe) holds his arms apart in a nonthreatening manner while Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) looks on. It’s unclear who they’re speaking to in the moment, but something tells us it’s probably related to Burgess’ (Marina Squerciati) abduction.
As y’all recall, emotions ran high as Intelligence searched for their missing cohort, who’d been ambushed by human traffickers. Burgess managed to escape but was shot in the process and lost a lot of blood.

The season opener, titled “Closure,” will find Burgess “continue fighting for her life as the team scrambles to find her kidnapper,” according to the official synopsis. Ruzek, meanwhile, “struggles with the pressure of the situation” and Deputy Superintendent Samantha Miller is “desperate to find her son’s killer.”
Remember when Voight reverted to his old ways and violently assaulted a suspect? Upton convinced him to let the man go before things got worse, but was then forced to shoot him dead after he tussled with Voight for control of the gun. Although Voight took care of things — he burned the body — the premiere will see both cops “deal with the aftermath of their deadly decision.”
The episode will also need to address Upton’s suggestion to Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) that they get married, since that scene ended before Halstead gave his answer.

Love Chicago PD and am looking forward to this new season. It would be nice to occasionally see the softer side of Voight (like we used to see with Erin) maybe a love interest…This team has a great synergy.
I like the dynamic between Upton and Voight. Would love to see some mentions of older characters though; I’m sure Voight is still in contact with Erin? Would be nice to hear her name again, even for just one scene.
So, so ready for Chicago PD to come to my screen again. I have missed them!
Excited for PD’s return! I’m watching a USA network marathon right now. PD is my favorite of the #OneChicago franchise.
I love Chicago PD but they need to get rid of upton she is to bossy she thinks she is in charge and the relationship between her and jay need to end. She is to controlling. The show would be better off without her.

Sing it sister! She’s been with the unit for only what four years and she think’s she runs everything and everyone. I truly question why Voight is even there half the time of he keeps letting her dictate him like this he is a Sergeant in name only.

Burgess is already better than the men, always has been, always will be.
After all she’s been through she doesn’t fold like a deck of cards at the slightest drama, unlike Jay who needs hist partner’s permission to take a leak, Adam who stumbles from one mistake to the next, Atwater who really does very little & Upton who can’t cross the road without having a crisis.

Yes I feel the same way. I don’t watch Chicago PD as much as I used to because of Upton. Chicago PD is natorious for killing off there cast. I feel there past due and Upton is on top of that list
I would like to see Kevin have a love interest, and Burgess/Adam hook up. Bring back Erin and AL. Don’t like Nicole Parker in role. I have been a fan since day one. Also, give Kevin a more interesting role. Don’t change Voight, I like him mean

I would like to see them change it up a little. Have All of them switch partners, maybe Halstead and Atwater. And Jay says no to Upton and they break up. Jmo

I love all 3 of the Chicago Wednesday night shows! I want Burgess to stop being so stubborn & give Ruzek another chance. I love them together. I think it’s time that Voight should have a romantic interest! I also think Kevin should have a woman in his life.

Love Chicago pd. Have watched reruns all summer. I agree that Adam and Kim should get back together. They make a great couple and have great chemistry. Yes definitely give Kevin a love interest. I am not a Haley fan. Love Hank and Jay. Hank needs someone and Jay needs someone else besides Haley
“Their decision” There was no “their” in it. Upton’s decision was to take him in. Voight’s decision was to kill him
Really ready for the new season. I’d like to see Burgess and Adam together, not so hep on Haley and Jay. And I think Voight needs someone, so does Atwater. And I’d like to see Trudy be involved more.
For Burzek to happen, Makayla to be loved and took care of, haliey and Jay to continue to work things out , Kevin to hook up with Alana and voight to be voight!

I’m almost done with this show there has been a lot if switching sex partners. However Atwater only had one love interest and she was put in jail the first and only episode. What’s that about.? Atwater is a good actor doesn’t he deserve some front time and a love interest as the other male figures in the show.
Rojas (Lisseth Chavez) was supposed to be Atwater’s potential love interest, but EPs decided to get rid of her after season 7, because apparently she was “iRrEleVanT f0r thE s7oRylInE”, and wasn’t even mentioned in season 8 as promised. Luckily Lisseth got another job real quick on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
I love this show, it’s my favorite, I watch all the reruns , but miss Sophia Bush, Erin was amazing, I wish she would come back, her and Voicht (Jason ) are my favorites, never disappoints, I just watch there reruns, and seal team , get them bad guys , I would love to see Hank fall in love again, his eyes are awesome, I’m disabled and this show carried me through some dark days , thank you all !!!!!!!!!! Love them , awesome show
