Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue teams rescued two lost hikers who "took some bad advice" and were unable to climb back down Lone Peak mountain.
Officials said the rescue took approximately three and a half hours starting with a callout time of 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night.
The hikers took the Peak View trailhead to summit Lone Peak. On their way down, they followed the "bad advice" and descended into upper Little Willow Creek.
Teams said this particular route does not have a trail and "doesn't go easily". The hikers ended up getting wet and cold in the dark and were unable to go down the mountain.
Search and Rescue sent two teams to hike up Sawmill Trail and found the two in the Little Willow drainage of Lone Peak.
The hikers were given warm clothes, water and food. They hiked together with Seach and Rescue teams and were off the mountain by 2:30 a.m.
