August 28, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Saturday.

Fire: The Dixie Fire is now 756,768 acres, an increase of 6,096 acres since yesterday, with 48% Containment. Active fire behavior and smoke production remains predominantly on the northern and southeastern perimeters of the Dixie Fire.

Smoke: Dense smoke remains over the region this morning as light winds yesterday afternoon limited clearing for the evening hours. The exception is Old Station, Susanville and areas to the northeast of the fire where Moderate conditions exist. For today, heavy smoke is forecast to remain in communities around the fire and further to the west in the Sacramento Valley. A light westerly flow beginning around midday should push some smoke easterly, degrading air quality in those areas with relatively cleaner air (i.e., Burney, Susanville, Portola). Sunday afternoon a stronger southwest flow over the region should finally help improve air quality in most communities by lifting and drifting smoke to the east.
