The Immediate Family, the esteemed and roll supergroup featuring Danny Kortchmar (guitar and vocals), Waddy Wachtel (guitar and vocals), Leland Sklar (bass), Russ Kunkel (drums) and Steve Postell (guitar and vocals), released a new self-titled studio album today, Aug. 27.

Featuring 14 tracks, 12 of them original compositions and two bonus tracks, live versions of the Danny Kortchmar/Jackson Browne collaboration “Somebody’s Baby” and Warren Zevon’s “Johnny Strikes Up the Band,” The Immediate Family is a powerhouse musical statement from the seasoned rockers. The songs were recorded over three days at Jackson Browne’s studio in Los Angeles, and are the result of a cohesion the band has developed over a few years of work together.

For some additional background on the Immediate Family, the rock and roll resume of the group is eye-popping:

The band is the evolution of a lifetime of friendship of playing music together: it began in the 1970s as a collective of studio and live musicians known as “The Section,” best known for both their work in support of some of the top selling singer/songwriters and solo singers in the history of music, as well as their own acclaimed instrumental albums. Collectively, Kortchmar, Sklar, Kunkel and Waddy Wachtel are four of the most recorded, respected & sought-after musicians in modern music and helped define the sound of a generation by supporting many of the most iconic artists of the last five decades, including James Taylor, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Keith Richards, Neil Young, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Don Henley, Phil Collins, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Bryan Ferry, Lyle Lovett and Jimmy Buffett – as well as producers Lou Adler and Peter Asher.

The members of the Immediate Family are very much interested in what they’re doing right now, though they appreciate the path that led them to where they are today:

“We are very proud of the people we’ve gotten to work with,” Kortchmar states, “but we’re also thrilled to now be playing our own music.” Wachtel concurs: “It’s too wonderful for words. I didn’t see this coming, and now I can’t imagine it having not happened.”

The album’s track listing:

1 Can’t Stop Progress
2 Slippin’ and Slidin’
3 Everything That’s Broken
4 Damage
5 Divorced
6 A Thing of the Past
7 Fair Warning
