Jay Hill, Weber State Add Former USU Coach Gary Andersen To Staff

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A familiar face is joining the Weber State Wildcats’ football program. Head coach Jay Hill added former Utah State coach Gary Andersen to the staff.
Andersen will serve as an advisor to the defensive staff in a volunteer capacity, according to the program. He will be in the press box during games.

Andersen will serve as an advisor and assist the WSU defensive coaching staff.

“Gary is one of the best coaches in the country and we are lucky to have him with us,” Hill said. “His experience and expertise in helping to train and prepare our coaching staff will really help us get better.”
Gary Andersen Coaching History
Andersen brings more than 30 years of coaching experience. He has spent time with Utah State, Oregon State, Wisconsin and Southern Utah. He was a head coach for 12 years. Andersen also coached at the University of Utah under many great coaches like Ron McBride, Urban Meyer and Kyle Whittingham.
Andersen and Utah State parted ways last season. Frank Maile served as interim head coach before Utah State hired Blake Anderson, who will coach his first game at this year’s season opener against Washington State.
Weber State opens the season against the Utah Utes on September 2, 2021, at 5:30 PM.
