Suspected Intoxicated Driver Causes Head-On Crash in Golden Valley

Minnesota State Troopers, along with Golden Valley Police and Fire responded to a two vehicle crash near Highway 169 & Plymouth Ave on Wednesday evening around 11:30 PM.

A preliminary investigation indicates that one vehicle involved in the crash was traveling the wrong way on Highway 169 before striking the other vehicle head-on.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. Scanner audio indicates that at least one driver had to be extricated from their vehicle.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle showed suspected signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while impaired.

The highway was closed for a short time as crews cleared the roadway.
