“You haven’t had the pleasure of my ‘we work as a team’ speech, but you can guess the bullet points,” a sleep-deprived Vanessa Lachey relays in the first trailer for CBS‘ upcoming NCIS: Hawai’i.
Premiering Monday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c, the latest NCIS offshoot stars Lachey as Jane Tennant, the first woman Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl. “As diplomatic as she is hard-charging, Tennant is a keen investigator who can navigate a crime scene and inter-bureau politics with equal aplomb. She’s also a single mother mother who often finds herself torn between running a family and running NCIS,” per Jane’s official description.
Lachey on Thursday shared the first official NCIS: Hawai’i trailer on Twitter, which you can check out below:

No nonsense and coffee addicted? Is she building a boat in her basement too? ;-)
Yes, and she’s been married 4 times and prefers redheads. 😝
“No nonsense and coffee addicted” pretty much describes a majority of superiors in any position. It appears she also is of the same Homo Sapiens species –has a torso, head, 2 arms and two legs!!! WOW!It’s so the clear conclusion is that she must be a Gibbs-clone ! I,for one, intend to watch with an open mind.
Wow, judgy much? If only I had put a wink emoji in to my original post to make sure people knew not to take it too seriously. Oh, wait….
Cannot think of any worst casting. Won’t be watching this one at all
Looks awesome! ❤
Oy. “Coffee addiction” is such a cliche.
Its a cliche for a reason…. Because its realistic for almost anyone holding a job.
sure, sure if you’re still living in the 90s.
If she was snorting bigass lines would make more sense.
network procedurals are the worst, everyone is looking like a model, has good clothes, perfect hair and big apartment or house. And their workplace is some basement with no daylight but still perfectly lit.
You seem to assume everyone in the real world looks like a troll. Projecting much?
Ever work for the government and live in DC, Hawaii or LA…it’s expensive and regular GS wage grade salaries don’t keep to cost of living.
Yeah, definitely not sold on her. I’ll give it a shot, but the team is gonna need to grab hold of me real quick.
What didn’t sell you on her in that 30 second trailer? Her gender?
Maybe her lack of acting cred? Or perhaps the absence of gravitas a real person in this position would likely have?
There are plenty of women who could’ve done the job and I’d’ve been all for. The woman best known as “some washed up ’90s singer’s wife” and “one-sixth of Carson Daly’s replacement” is not one of them, and I saw nothing in this promo to change my mind as to her ability to carry off the lead role.
.
Has nothing to do with her gender, and everything to do with her ability.
Since Katrina Law was brought into the NCIS universe from the H50 universe and given a new character, I would have done the same thing and given this role to the actress that played Tawny (Meagan Rath?) She’s young, but she also has a presence that this role requires.
Kind of agree; no sold on the character casting. But will see.
Oh, Hell to the No No!!!!!!!
Couldnt you come up with something a bit more original, Bh?
For people like myself who enjoy the NCIS, CSI type shows, this looks like it could be another winner. For everyone else, you never were going to like it so why are you acting surprised by the trailer?
Coffee… an NCIS staple!
This trailer did nothing to dissuade from the opinion that she can’t act her way out of a paper bag. She seemed really corny. I’ll hope for the best but I already expect a 1 season cancellation at best. I’m guessing there was no pilot made & no out of industry test screenings to make sure this wasn’t a dud. 😓
Not sure, will give it a chance. High expectations; hopefully delivers.
Time to cap NCIS regular. NCIS LA still good; still mad NCIS NOLA is gone.
So if this show gets order for, let’s say, 15 episodes AND it gives writers time to build out her character, you much rather make a rash judgment on 30 seconds of the show’s entire filming. Got it.
Not crazy about her acting abilities I’ll watch just to see if I like it🤷♀️
It looks like to me it is a Hawaii 5 0 knock off.. she doesn’t look like a tough special agent.. Going to really miss NCIS New Orleans.. I will give it a chance but not to impressed yet!!!
They need to turn the music down so it doesn’t drown out the voices.
Toooo much noise in the music.
Based on the trailer I am not impressed.
Will give it 1 or 2 episodes and then I’m gone if it doesn’t grab me.
