The Los Angeles Dodgers just won an absolutely wild 16-inning affair against the San Diego Padres as the World Series Champions continue to chase the San Francisco Giants. With the Dodgers making huge moves at the MLB trade deadline to get Max Scherzer and Trea Turner, they looked to make a huge push.

However, the Dodgers are still without longtime pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who last pitched on July 3 against the Washington Nationals. His return has been a huge question mark, and the Dodgers could certainly use his presence on the mound.

Well, according to Bill Shaikin of The Los Angeles Times, the return of Kershaw still has yet to gain any sort of clarity.

“He has not pitched in eight weeks. His return appears to be another few weeks away, and even that timetable is etched in hope. “

That doesn't sound at all promising about his return. Kershaw himself spoke about his status, and of course, he is dying to get back on the mound and help the Dodgers.

“It’s been frustrating. It’s been a long time. It shouldn’t have taken this long. It’s frustrating on my part. Hopefully, I can be around for the fun part, and help us into September and October.”

Hopefully is an interesting word for Kershaw to use, and the truth is that neither he nor the Dodgers have any possible idea when he can make his way back to the mound. With September almost here, and the Dodgers still trying to chase the Giants for the top spot in the NL West, Kershaw would provide a huge boost.
