RELEASE: Colby Cohen Hired as Content Analyst

The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that they have hired former National Hockey League player and ESPN broadcaster Colby Cohen as a Content Analyst. Cohen will appear on all Chicago Blackhawks content channels, including team social media platforms, podcasts and be a regular contributor to Blackhawks.com. In addition, he will also appear regularly in studio during NBC Sports Chicago's coverage of Blackhawks games.

I look forward to working with the many talented individuals at the Blackhawks and NBC Sports Chicago whose job it is to bring the fans the best coverage possible."

Cohen, 32, filled in for Eddie Olczyk during an NBC Sports Chicago broadcast earlier this year when the Blackhawks played in Detroit on April 17. He has worked for ESPN as a television hockey analyst since 2016 and served as a color commentator for the NCAA men's Frozen Four/National Championship game this year. He also worked as a studio analyst for the men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament on ESPN. Cohen has called some of the biggest events in hockey for Westwood One Radio where he has worked since 2017; including the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, National Hockey League Winter Classic's, the NCAA Frozen Four and select NHL postseason contests.

In addition, Cohen spent time with NBC Sports Philadelphia from 2017-20, operating as a studio analyst for Flyers games. Cohen has also worked as an analyst for CBS Sports, NESN and the American Sports Network.

A native of Villanova, Pennsylvania, Cohen was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round (45th overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut on November 6, 2010, against the Dallas Stars. Cohen also played professionally in the AHL and overseas. Cohen was teammates with current Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane on the USNTDP Team during the 2005-06 season.
Cohen played three years at Boston University and scored the overtime-winning goal in the 2009 National Championship game. He won the tournament's Most Valuable Player award as well. In his next season with the Terriers, Cohen was named to the NCAA's East First All-American Team and the Hockey East First All-Star Team after scoring a career-high 14 goals.
