Want A Seat At The Bar? Some Eugene Locales Require Vax Proof To Enter

Tiffany Eckert

Some restaurants and entertainment venues in Eugene are requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination before coming inside.

Cerina Waterstone is a front of house manager at Izakaya Meiji in the Whiteaker neighborhood. She said the rise in the delta variant prompted the Japanese-style pub to institute this safety protocol to protect staff.

“We are currently allowing guests who are fully vaccinated to dine inside at our bar or at tables inside. And they have to have either their vaccine card with them or a picture of it and a photo I.D. to match the name.”

Izakaya Meiji wait staff wear masks and require indoor diners to show proof of vaccination.

Waterstone said they haven’t had any push back on the policy. If a guest doesn’t have their card on them, "they just sit outside."

To protect staff, Party Downtown asks guests for vax proof before dining indoors.

Those wishing to see a show at Sessions Music Hall or the Hult Center (starting September 1) will need to prove they’ve been immunized or have had a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the performance.
