Preity Zinta Recalls Spending Her Childhood At Apple Orchards In Shimla

MUMBAI, India — Bollywood actress Preity Zinta took a moment to relive her childhood memories by visiting her family’s farm in her hometown.

The “Kal Ho Naa Ho” actress, on Aug. 24, 2021, shared a video on her Instagram handle where she can be seen roaming around her family-owned apple orchard.

“I was so excited to see apple trees after so long that the minute it stopped raining, I ran out and made this video. Glad I did so cuz minutes after it was pouring again (sic),” she wrote.

“Going back home to our family farm during apple season after so many years was an emotional & exhilarating experience.”

“Growing up, this place was dominated by the larger-than-life presence of my Grandfather, Grandmother and Rajinder Mamaji (uncle) & Uma Mamiji (aunt). We spent the best days of my childhood here.”

“Apple season was always special. (There were) So many rules. No eating in the grading halls, no disturbing or distracting the labor that diligently plucked apples in special baskets called Kiltas, no playing with apples or throwing them around, etc.”

“My fav (sic) part was apple plucking and collecting the largest and the smallest apples of the season, and, of course, glasses of freshly squeezed apple juice .”

“Two years ago, I officially became a farmer and (I) am so proud to be part of the farming community of the apple belt of Himachal Pradesh.”

“Here’s a shout-out to Himachal Apples that are the best apples in the world. I’m super stoked and proud of how well everything is maintained in all the farms given the Covid-19 situation, shortage of labor etc… I’m also extremely proud of my brother for going completely organic and replanting our orchard with organic apple trees (sic),” she concluded.

Zinta, who currently resides in the United States, also shared a photo thread on Aug. 21, 2021, on her Instagram handle where she can be seen planting a Himalayan Cedar tree in her hometown.

“Nothing is more exciting than coming back to your roots and contributing to making your home a better place,” she wrote.

“Here I’m planting a Himalayan Cedar tree cuz (sic) climate change and global warming is impacting all of us. It’s not just our duty but also our moral responsibility to give back to our environment so that our future generations have the same natural beauty and clean air we grew up with.”

The “Chori Chori Chupke Chupke” actress married Los Angeles-based financial Analyst Gene Goodenough in 2016 and moved to the United States.

Zinta was last seen Neeraj Pathak’s 2018 comedy-drama film “Bhaiaji Superhit” alongside Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi, Ameesha Patel, and Shreyas Talpade.

She is known for her films like “Veer-Zara,” “Dil Chahta Hai,” “Mission Kashmir,” “The Hero: Love Story of a Spy,” “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,” and others.

Zinta, who recently clocked 23 years in Indian cinema, also appeared in a small role in Nahnatchka Khan’s series “Fresh Off the Boat.”
