Earlier this month, news broke that Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke has tested positive for Covid-19. Lynyrd Skynyrd were then forced to cancel four of their shows. But just a few days ago, the 71-year-old rocker has announced that he has recovered and he will be joining his bandmates on stage.
He took to Instagram to make the announcement.
“Here I am, rounded the corner,” he said in a video. “I’m back, feeling good. And you know what? I feel very blessed and very fortunate to be sitting here today.”
“I’m going to kick out the footlights this weekend in New Jersey,” he added. “Really be safe and take care of yourself ’cause it’s not fun.”

And so last weekend, he rejoined his band at the Barefoot Country Music Festival concert in Wildwood, N.J. Check out a video of their gig below.
Lynyrd Skynyrd isn’t the only rock band whose touring plans have been affected by the rising cases of Covid-19. Foo Fighters and Mammoth WVH were also left with no other choice but to cancel their booked gigs after members of their respective teams tested positive for coronavirus. Lynyrd Skynyrd will continue with their North American tour.
