Rapper R5 Homixide has died at the age of 22.
Fellow artist Problem Child 5 confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: “Who tf gone watch my back now. Take me with you twin.”
Homixide rose to fame earlier this year with his single “Lion Heart”. His latest song was released only earlier this month and has over 60,000 views on YouTube.
The artist, whose real name is Rashad Dowdy, is based out of Atlanta and was considered a rising star in hip-hop. He was also affiliated with chart topper, Playboi Carti.
Money Game Boo also paid tribute to his fellow rapper, saying “your heart was big as this world”, and adding that Homixide was “amazing”.
His fans also took to Twitter to offer their condolences and comment on his death. One fan posted: “Long live R5 Homixide.”
Another commented: “Smh rip gang you was jus gettin started.”
R5 Homixide released his first album, Gvnganati 3, in March 2020.
A cause of death is not yet known.
