OFFICIAL: Ben Woodburn Signs for Hearts on a Season-long Loan
Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn has signed for Hearts on a season-long loan.
Woodburn was tipped to become a star player for Liverpool when he first broke through but he has not lived up to it unfortunately.
However, Jurgen Klopp and assistant manager Pep Lijnders still seem to have faith in the 21-year-old.
Woodburn played a part in Liverpool's pre-season where he impressed Pep Lijnders massively.
“Again, what a performance from Ben. The energy he brings to the team is exactly what we stand for. Football smart, a good mover and he unbalances the opposition constantly with the ball but also with his movement off it.” said Lijnders.
Ben Woodburn will be hoping that his move to Hearts will be a turning point in his Liverpool career.
If he fails to impress in the Scottish Premiership then Liverpool may let him leave on a free transfer next season, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Speaking on joining Hearts, Woodburn had this to say:
"It just looks like a massive club. I can't wait to play in front of the fans and see the atmosphere. I'm buzzing to be here and hopefully I can prove to the fans that I will be a good player for you."
Hearts manager Robbie Neilson also said this about the signing: “I’m really pleased that we’ve got this one over the line. Ben is a top class player with Premier League and international experience and he was really eager to join us.
“He’s an exciting player, one who I think will fit really well into our style of play. He’s quick, direct and can bring us different options in the final third. I’m looking forward to working with him and I hope that he will be a success here at Hearts.”
Hopefully Woodburn can prove to Klopp and his coaching staff that he deserves a place in Liverpool's squad next season.
