Identities released in deadly Interstate-40 crash in Dickson County

DICKSON CO., Tenn, (WKRN) – Tennessee Highway Patrol has confirmed at least two people have died in a crash that happened on Interstate-40 in Dickson County.

THP released the identities of the victims involved Monday evening. Robert Mckenzie and Charlie Mckenzie of Nashville were fatally injured.

The crash happened around 9:50 Monday morning on I-40 westbound at mile marker 178. That’s near the I-840/I-40 interchange in Burns.

The driver of a tractor trailer was slowing down due to traffic when the driver of a Nissan Versa was changing lanes, according to a preliminary report. The report stated the driver of the Nissan rear-ended the tractor trailer.

Both the driver, Robert Mckenzie, 50, and passenger, Charlie Mckenzie, 22, were killed in the accident. THP said they were wearing their seatbelts.

The tractor trailer driver was not injured.

The westbound lanes were closed for several hours and eastbound lanes experienced delays due to rubbernecking.

THP said multiple cars were involved.

The roadway reopened just before 1p.m.

No other information has been released at this time.
