Motorcyclist killed in wreck in Sumter County

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office, along with South Carolina Highway Patrol and multiple other first responding agencies, responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle wreck on Friday.
The accident occurred on S.C. 441 North at U.S. 521 at about 2:35 p.m.
Charles Wade, III, 27, of Dalzell, was pronounced dead on scene, Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said. He was the driver of the motorcycle that was struck by another vehicle. He was wearing a helmet.
A vehicle traveling west on S.C. 441 attempted to make a left turn onto U.S. 521 when it struck Wade, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper David Jones. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed Monday morning at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
