In the Buffalo Bills’ blowout win against the Chicago Bears, these four players proved their value to the team and stood out on Saturday afternoon.

From the opening kickoff, the Buffalo Bills appeared to be in regular season form. Dominating offensively, quarterback Mitch Trubisky orchestrated six scoring drives. And the stout defensive front helped the Bills force two consecutive three and outs along with a forced fumble and an interception in the first half.

Buffalo came away with the blowout win, but more importantly, the coaching staff and front office were able to assess the talent on their roster. These four players stood out in the Bills’ preseason Week 2 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Mitch Trubisky

Undoubtedly the MVP of the game, Mitch Trubisky avenged his release from the Chicago Bears by thoroughly dismantling the Bears’ defense. Trubisky finished the contest 20 of 28 for 221 yards and a touchdown, in just the first half. Trubisky was deadly running the Bills’ offense, which at times seemed unstoppable early on.

Trubisky’s most fascinating play came on a rollout, where he evading three pass rushers and ran 11 yards for a first down.

While the rule of QB1 remains with Josh Allen, Trubisky certainly has quarterback-needy general managers salivating. The decision-making, athleticism, and accuracy Trubisky displayed are coveted assets at the position. However, the Buffalo Bills may be more than comfortable rejecting any compensation in an effort to retain the backup in the event Allen misses any time.
