University of Tennessee police execute search warrant, two students charged

Two students at the University of Tennessee have been arrested after a search warrant was executed by campus police.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The University of Tennessee’s campus police and Knoxville Police Department executed a search warrant for narcotics 1618 Forest Avenue in Knoxville on August 19 around 1 p.m.

Savannah Padgett and Sophia Featherstone, both UT college students, lived at the same residence and were also on the search warrants as suspects.

Featherstone and Padgett stated that they both had marijuana and drug paraphernalia before the search warrant was conducted which was confirmed during the search.

In Featherstone’s room, officers found 38 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 60 capsules of tramadol, 27 grams of salvia divinorum, 2 grams of DMT, 26 LSD tabs, 24 grams of marijuana, a scale and 1 gram of THC wax.

Featherstone has been charged for manufacturing, delivering, selling and possession of schedule 6 and schedule 1 drugs, the for possession, distribution, and manufacturing of salvia divinorum and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers found unlawful drug paraphernalia in Padgett’s room, according to an incident report. On August 19, she was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an update, Padgett said she was aware of Featherstone’s possession of mushrooms and salvia in a post-miranda interview with officers. She has since been charged with maintaining dwelling for drug use.

Both students were arrested on the scene, according to UT’s 60-day crime log.

Both students have a sentencing hearing on September 30.

This is an active investigation.
