The Angels optioned Hoyt to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Hoyt didn't appear in a game after being called up Sunday. In seven games with the Angels this year, he's pitched to a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP in 6.2 innings of relief.
