Donald W. "Don" Cleveland
Hutchinson - Donald Wayne "Don" Cleveland, 89, died August 14, 2021, at Pleasant Hills, Hutchinson. He was born September 20, 1931, in Larned, to Loman Henry and Dorothy (Buckman) Cleveland.
Don graduated from Larned High School in 1950, and then attended trade school to be a printer. He began his career as a newspaper printer for Larned's Tiller & Toiler, and Dodge City Globe, before retiring from the Hutchinson News, after over 30 years of service. Don was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose #982, and a current member of CrossPoint Church, Hutchinson. He was soft-spoken, and enjoyed tinkering around the house and yard.
On September 30, 1956, he married Marilyn Jean Nickel, in Great Bend. She died September 24, 2015, after they shared almost 59 years of marriage.
Don is survived by: children, Brenda Wandling (Todd) of Sugar Land, TX, and Curtis Cleveland (Laura) of Hutchinson; sisters, Shirley Opp of Lincoln, NE, and Betty Ewing-DeWitt of Haines, AK; grandchildren, Joshua Cleveland (Lindsay), Jeremiah Cleveland, Jacob Cleveland, Tyler Wandling, Ashley Wandling, Noah Cleveland, Caleb Cleveland, and Jordan Baggett; and great-grandchildren, Haley, Heidi, Bradley, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Robert Cleveland and Clarence Cleveland.
Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Andy Addis officiating. Friends may sign his book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
