It has been clear that Celtic need to sign a right-back this summer for a while now, with Anthony Ralston being the only recognised player in that position in Ange Postecoglou’s squad at this point of time.

But the Hoops are yet to make a signing there with the club being linked with several right-backs over the course of the last few months and several twists and turns taking place in their transfer chase.

Not too long ago, it was looking like the club were closing in on a move for Aurelio Buta but that appears to be off the table at the moment. After that rumours emerged that Josip Juranovic was not far away from a Parkhead switch but that move appears to be in doubt as well.

Another right-back who has been linked with the club recently is Manchester City’s Yan Couto, who was also in attendance at Parkhead for Celtic’s 3-0 win over FK Jablonec in the second leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie. But it looks like there could be a worry in that transfer race as well.

Celtic handed Couto transfer worry

As reported by Sky Sports, Braga are interested in Couto, who is still undecided about a loan move to the Hoops despite his recent Parkhead visit.

Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds and if the club are able to bring Couto to Parkhead.

It must be pointed out though that a move for Couto would come with an element of risk. While the 19-year-old is very highly-rated, he is yet to play top division football in his career. Also, it is believed that he would only be available on a loan and not a permanent deal.

Thus, one has to wonder whether he would be the right signing for the club at this point of time when they are looking to return to the top of the Scottish Premiership once again after losing the title to the Rangers the last time around.
