Bishop Michael Duca ordains six local men to Diaconate

BATON ROUGE (BRPROUD) Bishop Michael G. Duca will ordain six men to the diaconate, or office of the deacon, on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph Cathedral downtown. The liturgy will be livestreamed on the diocese’s TV station and social media.

The six men being ordained Saturday are commonly called “permanent deacons” because they do not anticipate ordination to the priesthood.
