WHO IS DR DRE?

Dr Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, is a rapper, producer, and entrepreneur.

He is credited in the hip-hop scene as a pioneer for the California rap sound.

Dre, 55, founded the hugely lucrative Beats Electronics brand and was once the co-owner of the famous Death Row Records label.

DR DRE'S SON DIED IN 2008 DUE TO AN OVERDOSE

Dre's son Andre Young Jr. died on August 23, 2008 from an overdose of heroin and morphine, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.

His mother discovered in his bed at around 10:30am that morning, and although she called paramedics, they were unable to revive her son.

Young was pronounced dead at the scene.

'PROUD DAD'

According to journalist Ben Westhoff, author of the book Original Gangstas: The Untold Story of Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Tupac Shakur, and the Birth of West Coast Rap, Lisa Johnson said Dre was a 'proud father' at the time of LaTanya's birth.

But the pair split in the late 1980s when their eldest daughter LaTanya was five years old, after the birth of her two other sisters.

The rapper reportedly has seven confirmed children – four sons and three daughters with FIVE different women.

The interviewer appears stunned at the fact the Grammy-award-winning rap artist has never spoken of his other kids & Lisa expresses her anger at revelations in Dre's autobiography.

She says: "He put me out there as this well-kept secret, teenage secret…I'm gonna tell the truth."

She also goes onto say how she met a 16-year-old Dre when she was just 14 and would go onto have her first child LaTanya at 15-years-old in 1983.

But it appears LaTanya Young remains the only one whose conception was confirmed by Dre despite reports Lisa applied for child support for all three children in 1985 as well as a restraining order against the star.

Bombshell claims that Dr Dre's daughter is homeless and living in her car has put his troubled family life into sharp focus.

Now a resurfaced 2010 interview with Dre's baby mama Lisa Johnson, 53, who raised three girls by the Death Row Records producer single-handedly, reveals the star's two 'secret' daughters LaToya and Ashley Young.

But it appears that Dre's other children have been kept out well and truly out of the spotlight with the rapper never openly speaking about his two other daughters with baby mama, Lisa.

When Lisa is asked how many children she has with the Hip Hop star in the clip, she replies, "I have three daughters."

The shocked interviewer says: "Three daughters!? How come you only talk about one daughter?" Lisa responds: "I’m not sure why but in due time you will get that real story."

The music star also pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charges in August 1991 and was fined $2,513 USD, sentenced to 240 hours of community service, and 24 months probation.

He later spoke out about the incident and admitted his guilt in an HBO documentary series about his work.  

"No woman should ever be treated that way. Any man that puts his hands on a female is an idiot. He’s out of his f**king mind," he said, according to the Washington Post. 

"And I was out of my f**king mind at the time. I f**ked up. I paid for it. I’m sorry for it. And I apologized for it.

"I have this dark cloud that follows me, and it’s going to be attached to me forever. It’s a major blemish on who I am as a man, and every time it comes up, it just makes me feel f**ked up."

ASSAULT ON JOURNALIST

The allegations of Dre’s violence against women first emerged in 1991 after hip-hop journalist Dee Barnes said he assaulted her after an interview he didn’t like.

Barnes had been speaking to former NWA member Ice Cube who said negative things about the group at the time, Variety reports. 

Dre reportedly then approached Barnes at a party. 

Her 1991 statement claimed that he began “slamming her face and right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway.”

Dre, who was 26 at the time, then allegedly followed her into the bathroom, grabbed her by the hair, and started hitting the back of her head. 

Barnes’ lawsuit against Dre was settled out of court and the terms were not disclosed. 

PLAGUED BY TRAGEDY

Dr Dre is one of the biggest names in music, but his troubled family life recently hit headlines again after his allegedly estranged homeless daughter spoke out.

Dre’s fourth child, Andre R Young Jr, tragically died of a drug overdose aged 20 in August 2008. 

He had reportedly been out with friends the night before and was discovered in bed by his mother in their California home. 

The Los Angeles County coroner said he overdosed on heroin and morphine and it was ruled an accident. 

Young Jr had been the subject of a paternity dispute in 1990.

DR DRE WAS IN HOSPITAL SEVEN MONTHS AGO

Dr Dre, 55, was discharged from hospital after being treated for a brain aneurysm in January 2021.

The veteran rapper and record producer had been rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

But he was later released, his lawyer reported.

"Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes.

I'm doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team," a post on his Instagram read at the time.

"I will be out of the hospital and back home soon. Shout out to all the great medical professionals at Cedars. One Love!!"

WHAT DID DR DRE SAY AFTER 'STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON'?

Rapper and Beats co-founder Dr Dre apologized "to the women I've hurt" as reports of his past alleged altercations with women resurfaced around the release of N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" back in 2015.

“I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life.

"However, none of this is an excuse for what I did,” the rapper, real name Andre Young, told the New York Times back then.

DR DRE FED UP WITH DAUGHTER'S COMPLAINTS

The rap legend has six children with various women.

His eldest daughter, LaTanya Young, claims she has not seen her father for the past 18 years.

Now aged 38, she has also claimed that she is living out of her car, despite begging for help from her dad, who is worth around $820million.

Her dad has not as yet responded in public to her allegations.

Reps for Dr Dre did not immediately respond to The Sun’s request for comments regarding Young’s allegations.

Young also explained how it hurt her to know how much her father is allegedly paying in a settlement after divorcing his wife of 24 years, Nicole.

Young said that she was told her father is paying $300,000 a month to his ex.
