UPDATE AUG. 11: The Clark County Coroner has identified the man who was killed as Marschell Brumfield. His death was caused by a gunshot wound to the abdomen and it was ruled a homicide.

Las Vegas police are investigating an early morning deadly shooting on Fremont Street downtown.

Authorities say they were called to the 200 block of Fremont Street, near Third Street, at about 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday with reports of a shooting and an altercation.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer says two men in their 30s got into a fight near the Third Street Stage when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the other.

The man who was shot ran away initially but collapsed about a block and a half away. He was taken to the University Medical Center where he died at the hospital.

Police did not immediately release a detailed description of the shooter but say he did leave the scene on foot.

Anyone with further information was urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
